Where is the camp located?

Surf camp Alentejo is situated on the south part of the west coast of Portugal, a scenic 2-hour drive from Lisbon. This region of the country offers a genuine cultural experience, where you get up close to the authentic Portuguese traditions and way of life. The town centre of Porto Covo is a 10-minute drive from the camp. Here you will ﬁnd restaurants, bars and shops in a picturesque setting, with cobbled streets and small white houses.

What breaks/beaches do you surf?

We usually surf at Avaidos, Vieirinha and Sao Torpe.

How is the food in Alentejo?

Accepted Answer

We serve breakfast each morning and these are included in your stay. We also offer lunch at the camp a few days per week (not included), where you can choose options from our menu. The rest of the lunches we have outside the camp at one of the bars by the beach right after surfing. Most of the dinners are served at the camp and include traditional Portuguese homemade food and all-favorites classics like pizza and tacos. You will have 5 dinners included in the package and for the remaining 2, we will go to eat out together at amazing local restaurants.

What airport should I fly to?

The closest airport to our surf camp in Alentejo is Lisbon Portela Airport (LIS) in Lisbon. From here we'll pick you up and take you straight to the camp if you add transfer at checkout.

Do I need to bring a wetsuit?

Accepted Answer

Wetsuits and all the equipment you need is included in all surf course packages. Bed & breakfast guests can rent wetsuits (and boards) at the camp if needed.

Which season is best for a surf trip to Alentejo?

Accepted Answer

Portugal has great surf all year round and Alentejo is no exception. The waves are smaller and more beginner-friendly during summer and bigger during the winter.

How is the internet connection at the camp?

Accepted Answer

We have free WiFi open for all the guests at the camp. Nevertheless, since the camp is situated in the countryside, the reception is of a countryside quality. If you need to be online at all times, please consider buying a sim card from a local provider with data on it, so you do not depend on the internet connection at the camp.

Can I rebook my trip for free?

Yes! Lapoint is offering rebooking opportunities for all bookings. Rebooking needs to be done 14 days prior to departure. Customer can rebook to any camp with arrival date within 12 months of change date. If a customer wish to rebook the camp to another destination, the invoice will be adjusted according to the new destination’s selling price.

What's the average age of the guests coming to Alentejo?

The average age of our guests in Alentejo is 26 y.o. This means that the majority of guests are between 18 and 40 years of age. However, our people are more about a shared attitude, experiences and outlook than age. Staying with us, you're likely to make great friends, regardless of your date of birth.

Our surf camp in Alentejo is located in the south of Portugal, offering empty lineups and a unique ambiance. Lapoint surf camp Alentejo gives you a glimpse of traditional Portugal, situated among endless fields, vineyards, and spacious beaches. The camp will offer you the calmness and relaxation that you need. We will eat breakfast and dinner at the big, traditional family table, surrounded by the sounds of nature. If you would like to have a calm and quiet week, far from the noise and bustle, Alentejo will be the perfect place.

Does Alentejo have good surf?

Alentejo has nice and consistent waves all year around without having a crowded lineup. If you are thinking of surfing in Portugal, Alentejo is a more laid-back surf location than Ericeira. Alentejo provides good-quality surf with smaller and friendlier waves in summer and bigger swells in winter.

Are there any other activities around the camp besides surfing?

The camp is quite remote, with the closest village a 10 min drive from the camp. So outside surfing, we spend quite a lot of time at the camp chilling, enjoying the pool and the countryside, playing games, and just having a good time. If you would like to explore the surroundings, we recommend you consider renting a car. If you are looking for a quiet time and spending most of the time enjoying the campsite and surfing, we will be happy to give you a lift to the closest supermarket or pharmacy on our way from the beach. We offer activities at the camp like yoga, massage, horseback riding, and extra surf lessons throughout the week.

Is transfer included from the airport?

We offer two shuttles between the camp and Lisbon airport each Sunday. The transfer costs 100 Euros return trip (to and from the airport). The transfer can be added when you book the trip. If you have already booked your trip, or only want a one-way transfer, you can contact the Customer care team at info@lapointcamp.com and they will help you add it.

Do I need to rent a car to stay at the Alentejo camp?

The camp is quite remote and it can be a nice idea to rent a car to get to the camp and to be able to explore the area and beaches during your stay. There are numerous rental car services in Portugal, and most of them offer car pick-up at the airport.
