SustainabilityThe beach is our home, we are leaving it better than we found it

Sustainable surf camps built on respect for the ocean, people & planet
At Lapoint, sustainability = responsibility. As a global surf camp operator, our experiences depend on healthy oceans, thriving local communities, and protected natural environments. That’s why we work continuously to minimize our environmental footprint while maximizing our positive impact wherever we operate. Committed to minimizing our negative impact on the ocean, the wildlife, and the planet, we are a climate-neutral company.
“We believe it is our responsibility to always work towards becoming more sustainable, to minimize our negative footprint and maximize our positive handprint through our own actions and by influencing others."
Our commitment: Climate-neutral surf camps
We are proud to be a climate-neutral company, committed to reducing our impact on the ocean, wildlife, and planet. By joining the UN Climate Change “Climate Neutral Now” initiative, we take responsibility for measuring, reducing, and compensating our greenhouse gas emissions.
Our commitment includes:
Measuring and reporting our greenhouse gas emissions
Actively reducing emissions across all operations
Compensating remaining emissions through UN-certified climate projects
This long-term partnership helps us stay transparent, accountable, and continuously improving.
Our people & climate responsibility
Since day one, sustainability has been built into how we work. Together with Nordic Ocean Watch and sustainability expert Simen Knudsen, we’ve measured our CO₂ footprint in detail since 2017.
Through our partnership with CHOOOSE, we compensate emissions by supporting verified climate projects such as:
Kariba REDD+ forest protection (Zimbabwe)
Bac Lieu wind farm project (Vietnam)
We compensate emissions from:
All staff flights
Heating and electricity across destinations
Transportation related to surf lessons, activities, and airport transfers
To further reduce emissions, all administrative staff are free to work remotely year-round, eliminating the need for large office space and significantly reducing daily commuting emissions.
Our playground: Protecting the ocean
As surfers, the ocean is our playground, and protecting it is personal. Marine plastic pollution is one of the biggest threats to ocean life, and we actively involve both guests and staff in making a difference.
Since 2017, the Lapoint community has removed over 30 tonnes of plastic waste through weekly beach clean-ups across all destinations.
These clean-ups are not optional add-ons; they’re an important part of life at our surf camps.
Supporting local communities & responsible travel
We are committed to responsible tourism in every destination we operate in.
This means:
Hiring local staff whenever possible
Supporting local businesses and producers
Educating guests and communities about ocean preservation
On-site initiatives include:
Meat Free Mondays
Reduced water and energy consumption
Recycling systems across all camps
Use of local and organic produce
Promotion of reef-safe zinc and sunscreen
Reusable water bottles and shopping bags
We’re also rolling out solar energy solutions, and in Portugal we already supply 100% of our heating and hot water needs with renewable energy.
Choosing Lapoint means choosing a surf camp that cares
Sustainability at Lapoint is a shared effort. Guests, staff, and local communities all play a role in protecting the places we love and ensuring that future generations can experience the same waves, beaches, and Good Times.

Sustainability
The beach is our home. We are leaving it better than we found it.
We have made a commitment to our ocean, beaches and community. They are our playground, our home and our livelihood. We are going to leave them better than we found them. That means that all our employees, friends and guests helps out with recycling and taking other actions for the environment. Each week there are beach cleaning and recycling activities to ensure that our home stays the way it was supposed to be.
