Global surf check: How are the waves and vibes right now?
June 29, 2025Curious about what the waves are doing across the globe right now? We’ve got you. Our camp crew just checked in from six of our surf destinations, and the surf and vibes reports are all kinds of epic!
We checked in with our camp managers and surf coaches around the world, from the tropical breaks to European summer hotspots. Here’s what they had to say about current conditions, local vibes, and what makes each place special right now.
Let’s dive into this week’s global surf check:
Ericeira, Portugal
Report from Rui, our Head Surf Coach in Ericeria
Ericeira is in full summer swing, and the surf scene is buzzing. The sun’s out, the days are warm, and the waves are serving up easy, fun conditions which are perfect for beginners.
– It’s summer and high season in Ericeira! Sunny days and fun, easy waves for beginners. This place is world-class and works year-round. People live and breathe surf here, and I’m thankful for being here, said Rui.
From beach breaks to more advanced spots, Ericeira’s consistency and variety make it a dream for surfers of all levels, so the more advanced surfers will have a blast too.
Alentejo, Portugal
Report from Katya, Camp Manager
Just down the coast, Alentejo is also showing off its high-season charm. Expect long, hot days, water up to 20°C, and mellow waves, which are ideal if you’re learning or looking to cruise.
– It’s high season in Alentejo as well, with hot days, warm water, and fun small waves perfect for beginners. Our coaches still find great spots for advanced surfers to practice, too!, Katya tells us.
Add in a peaceful atmosphere and endless coastline, and you’ve got one of Europe’s most underrated surf escapes.
Santa Teresa, Costa Rica
Camp Manager Report
Costa Rica is doing its thing; offering up everything from hollow barrels to dreamy glassy sessions. Santa Teresa is delivering the goods!
– We're having amazing waves lately, big days with barrels, and smaller glassy ones in between. Perfect conditions for all levels!
Los Clavos, Nicaragua
Report from Oscar, our Nicaragua Camp Manager
Nicaragua is on fire. Swell after swell has been lighting up the coast, and the rainy season is bringing powerful storms and next-level surf.
– We’ve had nonstop swell for nearly two months now! The big, high-quality waves and empty perfection right in front of the camp have been real fun. The rainy season has just hit, bringing epic thunderstorms and some unforgettable sessions, said Oscar.
Ahangama, Sri Lanka
Camp Manager Report
With fewer people in the lineup this time of the year, it’s all about connecting with the local surf community and enjoying a slower, more soulful vibe.
– The crowds are nowhere to be seen, and it's a local, laid-back vibe in the lineup right now. The energy in the water is perfect!
If you're after warm water, mellow sessions, and authentic surf culture, then this is it.
Bali, Indonesia
Report from Shilen, our Camp Manager in Bali.
Things are heating up on the east coast of Bali. Last week brought solid surf and some nearly-barreled moments for our Level 3 group.
– Last week was a big week for surfing on the east coast (where Canggu is). I went with the Level 3 group to Kuta Reef and a couple of the guys claimed almost getting barreled! said Shilen.
Bali’s delivering exciting surf and tropical vibes in full force.
