Our camp in Hoddevik, Norway is a unique place, and during the colder months, it’s even got an added kind of magic to it. Here are our favourite things to do during autumn.
Disconnect from the outside world
Nestled between majestic mountain and set in the remote West coast of Norway, it’s a great place to disconnect from the outside world and be completely present in the moment. As the autumn sets in, we gather around the bonfire or over some hot chocolate for good conversations. It’s no better combination than fresh mountain air and a great surf session followed by a cosy evening with your fellow travellers. Join some board games, read a book and enjoy that it’s nowhere else you rather be.
Take in the great views from the mountain tops
As the autumn paints the hills in bright colours, the timing is perfect for beautiful hikes in Hoddevik. Take the hike up to one of the mountains overlooking the bay, and you’ll be rewarded with some spectacular views; the white beach and rolling hills, all dotted with sheep and tiny traditional Norwegian cabins. The majestic landscape and often dramatic weather will make you feel truly alive.
Go stargazing and feel at one with nature
Since Hoddevik doesn’t have a lot of light pollution, the darker months are a perfect opportunity to do some stargazing and immerse yourself in the stunning scenery. Go for a hike on a clear evening, take in the starry sky and feel at one with nature.
Relax in the hot tub and sauna
At the camp, we have our own hot tub, perfect for some after-surf rest and chilly autumn days. Be outdoors and enjoy the beautiful scenery at the same time as taking relaxation to the next level. Not bad, huh?
At one of our cabins, we also have a sauna, so you can get the authentic Scandinavian experience. The tradition is to jump into the ocean and then run back to the sauna, but that’s for the daredevils out there. No matter what you choose – the heat from the sauna is supposed to have some great health benefits. It’s said to help relaxation of the muscles, improvement of blood circulation and even the release of endorphins – the body’s “feel-good” chemical. Happy days!
Tick off some bucket list experiences
As we get closer to winter, you might be lucky and get your surf session lit up by northern light or sprinkled with snow. This is a one-of-a-kind experience that will stay with you for the rest of your life. Are you ready to join us?
