Kiters Pack - Kitesurfing Zanzibar

Lapoint Kiters Pack Zanzibar is for kiters who are independent and have their own gear. This kite paradise on the beautiful waters of the Indian Ocean offers steady winds, turquoise flat-water, sandy bottom, and a reef break with perfect waves 1.5 kilometres offshore.

A normal day

Start the day with a visit to the gym or straight to the exotic breakfast with a variety of fruits, pancakes, omelets and fresh juice. The wind is calmer in the morning, and if the wind’s not strong enough for kiting, we’ll do other activities, such as snorkelling, reef walks, volleyball, strolling in the local village, or simply relax between the palm trees, giving our bodies time to prepare for the kiting ahead. Our kite center is not more than 10 minutes away when you walk along the beach. There will always be fun and social evening activities, such as bonfire, Masaai show, movie nights, drinks at our bar and maybe heading out to the nightlife of Paje.

What to expect?

Our kite spot in Paje is protected by a coral reef 1.5 kilometres out, giving a perfect large flat-water lagoon to practice freestyle as well as waves beyond the reef. The wind is always side onshore so you can always easily get to the outer reef and kitesurf these waves without a guide, which is amazing. However, a good idea is to go together atleast 2-3 persons. The wind blows side onshore at around 12-25 knots, most days between 15-18 knots. This stable and constant wind blows for hours, making you feel confident to practice more tricks than you dreamed you could. The most common used kite sizes are 9-14 meter kites, depending on your weight. At the spot you will find a large beach where it is safe to launch and land your kite, toilets, restaurant/bar, a kite shop with repair facilities, and shaded areas with a great atmosphere and music where you can chill between the sessions.

Good airlines are Qatar, Emirates, JetAirFly, Condor (Lufthansa), Turkish Airways, KLM, Kenyan Airways and Swiss Airlines. The cheapest option is flying to Dar Es Salaam, a big city on the mainland, and flying or taking a ferry from there to Zanzibar.

The flight from DAR to ZNZ (Zanzibar International Airport) is around 70$ one-way, you can check airlines like: Coastal Air, Zan Air, and Precision Air.

The ferry is around 35$ one-way, and you will need to take a taxi from the airport to the ferry docks. Cost will be about $20 according to how well you can negotiate the fare. They are all fast ferries. Will take about 1 1/2 to 2 hours to get from Dar to Stone Town (the nearest big city from Paje, 45 minutes away).
