Learn to Kitesurf Croatia - Beginners Kitesurf Camp

If you are new to kiting or if you only have tested a few times, this is the perfect package. The Environment at our spot is safe for learning: The beach is large, and the water is flat and shallow. We have an IKO certified school and boat rescue.

A normal day

Wake up to a lovely breakfast with a selection of fresh juices, coffee, tea, yoghurt, fruits, ham, cheese and different types of bread. The wind normally kicks in between 12-3 pm, so you have time to enjoy the morning, the food and the view. The early birds have the option to go to the gym or play tennis before breakfast. Our vans will take you along the river to the kite spot, 10-15 minutes away. You will meet your instructor and start the kite course. There are only two participants on each instructor, so you are guaranteed that you learn a lot during the time you have. We return to the camp when the sun goes down (around 19:00). A delicious dinner and wine will be served at nine to the price of 18 euros, including desert.

Who is it for?

This package is for complete beginners, or for people who only have tried kiting few times. Our professional instructors will closely monitor you, and they will make sure that you develop your skills in line with your level. You will have theory, safety and practice. We want you to have fun with kiting, feel safe, be hooked on the sport and meet new fun people you can travel with later. The conditions for learning are perfect: You have a plenty of space, flat and shallow water and consistent wind. Info

Arrival

Arrival- and departure day are Saturdays. Split is the nearest Airport, a 1h and 40 minutes drive from the camp. Make sure you arrive with SAS or Startour in the morning to make it easier to arrange common transfers. Dubrovnik Airport is a bit further (2 hours), but it is also possible to arrange transfer from here to the camp. There are direct flights from most big cities in Scandinavia, and the flight time is 2:45 minutes. Check SAS, Norwegian, Ving, Apollo and Startour.

Transfer

Lapoint will organize transfer to and from the airport in Split. Send us an email with your flight number and arrival time if you want to be picked up. The price depends on the amount of people sharing. It takes 1h and 40 minutes to the camp from the Airport. Make sure to arrive and depart Saturday morning, to share the same transfer as the other guests.

Meals

Breakfast is included in the price. There will be a selection of fresh juices, coffee, tea, yoghurt, fruits, ham, cheese and different types of bread. We have a fridge where you can keep some personal food, for example to make lunch. It is also possible to buy food and drinks in the café at the kite spot. We eat dinner together at the camp five days during the week. Croatian gastronomy is based on the Mediterranean kitchen, combining healthy and traditional delights. Dinner will be a main dish (fish, meat or vegetarian) and salad or veggies and a desert or fruits. All served meat, fish, fruit and vegetables are fresh, from local producers.  (Dinner is usually 18-20 euros, including desert)

Don’t forget

Sheets, towels (not for the beach) and usage of the camp facilities are included. Towels for beach are not included.

What to bring?

Remember towels for beach, sunblock, sunhat and a warm hoodie/jacket for the evenings. You are good with a bikini/boardshorts during the day and a shorty in the evenings. Wetsuits are not included in the beginner package! Bring yoga mats if you want to join the yoga!

The lessons system

How your 12 hours are used depends on the wind. There are only two students on each instructor and each hour is very effective. You normally do two sessions of 1-2 hours each day. You need a rest with food and water in between the lessons 😉 They are intense, and you are going to learn a lot each time you are on the water. The students can expect to finish the lessons after 3 or 4 days, and you have the option to rent gear if you are independent and the instructor consider this to be safe. If you are on a different level than the other students (or if there is only one student per instructor), then you get private lessons. Each lesson is 1 hour, and you have 6 lessons in total.

What goal is realistic to have after 12 hours of kite lessons? (The summer camps)

This depends on each student, but normally you should know the safety and theory to continue practicing on your own. You have kited your first meters on the board. Some of you are already riding back and forward; some are practicing to ride upwind, while others might need a few more lessons to be independent enough to continue on their own. This is very individual.

Can I use the kite gear when there are no lessons?
No, kite gear is only included during the lessons. You can rent gear after you are done with your hours, and continue practicing by your own. Your instructor needs to approve that this is safe and ok. If you are not independent enough yet to be practicing by yourself, you have the option to buy more private lessons.
