Kite Camp Cape Town

Beaches, mountains, waves, wind, culture, history, nightlife, shopping, wine and food: Cape Town has it all. This is a “must experience” destination with beautiful kite beaches, consistent wind and unforgettable adventures.

Cape Town

Cape Town becomes the Worlds capital of kitesurfing during the summer season from December to March. The wind is very reliable during these months, and it usually blows from 15 knots on a light day up to between 30-35 knots on stronger days. The unique coastline around Cape Town includes beaches that face every direction, offering a huge variety of conditions. Wind and/or waves can be found at any time. There are spots for all levels, flat water for beginners who want to learn as well as for riders who practice freestyle, or waves of all sizes for morning surf and fun downwinders. Apart from kiting there is so much to do that you will never want to leave the city. Hike the famous Table Mountain and enjoy the endless views, visit the penguins at Boulders Beach, go on safari or head for Cape Point. You can also taste the famous South African wines on a wine route tour through the vineyards of Stellenbosch or try all the amazing local and organic food at Old Biscuit Mill market while buying your souvenirs. The nightlife is great, the drinks are cheap and the people are friendly.

What to expect

Cape Town is considered to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world, with outstanding mountains and a long stretch of picturesque coastline. The climate is Mediterranean, with warm and dry summers (Dec-March). Lapoint kite camp is located in Bloubergstrand, a 20 minutes drive from Cape Town. This is one of the best kite areas in Western Cape for kitesurfing, and professionals from all over the world come every season to train. Our place is a short walk from “kite beach”, where you have magnificent views across the Atlantic Ocean to Table Mountain. The sunsets are indescribable. We will take you to the flat-water lagoon in Langebaan two days during the week. All guests also have a session at the 2.0 cable park included. There will be assisted downwinders in Blouberg, 3 km for beginners and 8 km for riders. In the end of Jan/start of Feb, you can witness the spectacular “Red Bull King of the Air”. The best kiteboarders in the world will push the limits of altitude and flying distance in high winds.
